Thetahoods

Our Thetahood events are designed to help members bond, spend quality time together, and create lasting memories. We aim to offer a variety of activities to match our members' diverse interests and are continuously seeking out new ideas and suggestions! We have several Thetahood events each semester, depending on our members' general availability and schedules. Here are some examples of just a few of the events we've held in the past;

  • Cookie Decorating
  • Line Dancing on the Lawn
  • Movie Nights
  • Paint Nights
  • Attending UofA Hockey Games
  • Visiting the Art Gallery
  • Visiting the Observatory

Exchanges

Exchanges are events hosted in partnership with other Greek organizations. They provide an excellent opportunity for our members to meet new people, build connections, and strengthen our sense of community. Some examples of past exchange events include;

  • Game Nights
  • Paint Nights
  • BBQs
  • Volunteering Together

Semi-Formal

Our annual semi-formal event takes place each fall and offers our members a chance to dress up and enjoy a night of fun, appetizers, and great conversation.

The evening often includes activities, short speeches, photo opportunities, and a highlight reel showcasing our chapter’s most recent events and fun memories.

Formal

Formal is one of our biggest events of the year and is held in the winter semester. It’s a lovely evening where we come together, enjoy a delicious dinner, and celebrate our chapter's achievements and sisterhood. Members dress up in formal attire and can choose to bring a date to join the festivities, making it a special night for everyone.

The event takes place in a beautifully decorated venue, often with a unique theme. Last year, we celebrated with a "Twin Stars" theme, one of Kappa Alpha Theta's symbols.

The night includes an awards ceremony, where members are recognized for their outstanding contributions. These awards are voted on by the chapter members and are a meaningful way to celebrate each other’s achievements. In addition to these awards, we also present our annual Paper Plate Awards to all members, which are fun recognitions that add a lighthearted touch to the event.

In addition to dinner and awards, the evening is filled with music, dancing, heartfelt speeches, and a slideshow showcasing all the memories our chapter has made over the past year.

Education Events

Our educational events are designed to increase awareness and foster understanding of important issues such as mental health, sexual violence, and substance use. These events help equip our members with the knowledge and tools to make a positive impact both within our sorority and in the broader community.

We also host several events each semester dedicated to topics of diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering ongoing dialogue and learning within our community.

New Member Events

These events focus on welcoming our new members and celebrating our sisterhood. Some examples of these events are Bid Day and the Big & Little Reveal!
